The Film

Pat Burgener’s Winter Escape is a branded content film created for Volkswagen California. Set in the Swiss Alps, the film follows singer and snowboarder Pat Burgener during a winter escape in Crans-Montana. Driving his Volkswagen California through snowy landscapes, he spends the day between music, mountain air, and playful moments in nature.

From playing guitar beside the van to sharing a warm fondue at nightfall, the film captures a simple and authentic rhythm of life in the mountains.

A cinematic portrait of freedom, creativity, and the spirit of adventure that defines the California lifestyle. Rather than selling the van, the film lets the lifestyle speak for itself, building a brand world audiences want to step into.

Production

Winter Escape was directed by Etienne Claret and produced by basique studio for Volkswagen California. Samuel Laprand served as producer on the project.

The shoot took place in Crans-Montana, in the Valais Alps, where winter conditions and remote mountain locations shaped both the visual identity and the production logistics. Samuel’s role as producer covered planning, on-set coordination, and delivery.
